Assignments
- Weeks 9 and 10
- Reading: Chapters 5 and 6. This includes material that will be covered in
the final. So please begin reading the text,
and working out exercises.
- Preparation for the final exam:
The final exam preparation sheet will be posted on Wed 7/28.
The final exam preparation sheet is
now posted (7/28 latest update made on 8/02).
- The final exam is held
on Th 8/5 in the lecture hall, but begins at 12:30
p.m. [and not the scheduled lecture times].
- The final exam will be an open book, closed notes
exam.
- Be sure that you bring your text and a calculator; you will need both.

Week 8
- Preparation for Midterm 3 (Midterm on Mon 7/19;

- The third midterm covers homework assignments of weeks 6 and 7.
- The third midterm is open book and open notes.
You might wish to bring a hand calculator.
- You will need the normal table from your textbook. Be sure
that you have your textbook with you for the exam, even if
you do not plan on using it otherwise.

Week 3
- Preparation for Midterm 1 (on Mon 6/7):

can be found below.
- The first midterm is open book and open notes.
You may bring a hand calculator, if you think it might help. But calculators
are not required for the midterm.
- I will pass out exam booklets. You don't need bluebooks etc.
- A [real] previous sample midterm 1 exam
(posted 6/02). Here are some solutions
(with an added remark on #3, posted on 6/06).
Read them only after you have attempted everything seriously.
Reading for the post-midterm-1 material (Due Wed 6/9): Appendices 1 and 2;
work out as many problems as you can from the appendix; discuss them with me in
person (after the midterm, not before).
