The Mathematics Department welcomes applications from all undergraduate majors in math. We offer a number of scholarships for incoming freshmen, transfer, and continuing undergraduate students. Submitting the College of Science Application allows a student to be considered for all relevant scholarships.
DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS SCHOLARSHIPS
Awarded to an outstanding student in the Department of Mathematics.
Provides at least one award to a junior or senior majoring in Mathematics who has demonstrated financial need.
Awarded to a student in the Department of Mathematics with demonstrated financial need.
Two Junius John Hayes Endowed Scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate students in the Department of Mathematics who have demonstrated scholastic achievement in the field of Mathematics
Provides one or more awards to outstanding undergraduate students in the Department of Mathematics.
Awarded to an outstanding sophomore, junior, or senior student in the Department of Mathematics.
Awarded to an outstanding student in the Department of Mathematics.
Benefits an outstanding undergraduate student in the Department of Mathematics.
Awarded in memory of Michael Zhao, an outstanding undergraduate at the University of Utah who completed his honors degree in Mathematics in 2017.
ALL STUDENTS WHO WANT TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A SCHOLARSHIP THAT TAKES NEED INTO ACCOUNT MUST COMPLETE THE FAFSA.
HOW TO APPLY
All applications will be submitted through the AcademicWorks scholarship system through the University of Utah Scholarship Office.
Complete both the University General Application and the appropriate College of Science General Application.
The College of Science Application will include:
- Application Questions
- Unofficial Transcript
- 1 Letter of Recommendation:
• Current University of Utah students must provide a signed Permission to Release Waiver to each academic or research professor asked to write a letter of recommendation.
• High school students are NOT required to provide a permission to release waiver unless requesting a letter from a University professor.
Students will be notified via Umail if they are to be awarded a scholarship after the committee has made their final decision.
INCOMING FRESHMAN:
You must be admitted to the University of Utah to apply for College of Science (includes the Department of Mathematics) scholarships. Before you can apply for scholarships you must create your Campus Information Services (CIS) account using the University ID (uNID) and password included in your admissions letter. Once you have created your CIS account you must activate your University email account (Umail) using your uNID and your new password. When both accounts are activated you may apply for College of Science scholarships.
