Announcements: (in reverse chronological order)
- (5/5) The grades are now posted. You can view your grade by logging into CIS. (Among those students who took the final exam, ~40% got A. ~35% got B+, B or B-. Good work. Thanks for being a great class!)
- (4/26) There is a free 4-week summer math program in Number Theory (6/11-7/6). Details can be found here, by scrolling down to New! Free Summer Program.
- (4/24) The final exam will be Wednesday, 2 May, 10:30-12:30, in the same classroom. As announced, there will be 60% of problems similar to those in the 4 midterm exams.
- (4/19) There will be a "proof problem" in MT4. It is either the inequalities on p.685 or Theorem 1 on p.696.
- (4/17) The fourth midterm exam is set on 24th April. Also, we will discuss the final exam and the upcoming midterm exam on Thursday 4/19.
- (4/12) We will likely to have 4th midterm exam on 24th April. This will be finalized on 4/17 during the class.
- (4/10) We will discuss the date of last midterm exam on Thursday, 12th April. Please attend the class or email me any comments you might have.
- (4/5) HW #7 (c) in Section 9.3 is NOT transitive, as both (a2,a3) and (a3,a3) are both in R, but (a2,a2) is not in R. Thanks to Amy who pointed this out to me!
- (3/29) The final exam is set on 2nd May, 10:30-12:30. The fourth midterm exam will be on 19th or 24th April.
- (3/20) The review for the third midterm exam will be held on 3/28, 5-6PM, in JWB 333, unless otherwise ammended in class on 3/27.
- (3/15) Sections 7.3 and 7.4 will be covered on 27th Tuesday. Midterm exam coverage will likely include up to Section 7.4. (That is, Chapters 5, 6, 7 and 8.4.) It will be finalized on 3/27.
- (3/6) The third midterm exam date is changed to Thursday, 29th March.
- (2/20) Second Midterm Exam date is changed to Tuesday, 2/27. Also the HW due on Tuesday (2/20) is changed to Thursday (2/22).
- (2/15) The second midterm exam is set on Thursday, 22 February. Please make sure that you attend the exam. No make-up exam is possible except in rare situations as listed in the syllabus.
- (1/28) As announced in class, there will be an additional office hour on Monday, 29 Jan, 5-6PM.
- (1/23) The first midterm exam is set on Tuesday, 30th January. Please make sure that you attend the exam. No make-up exam is possible except in rare situations as listed in the syllabus.
- (1/18) The first midterm exam date is moved, perhaps to 30th January. It will cover Chapters I and II. Will discuss this in class on Tuesday 23rd Jan.
