Abstract: Spatial pattern formation arising through self-organisation has been studied in great detail, but the role of domain growth in pattern selection has received little attention. We will present preliminary analysis of this phenomenon by considering the specific case of the Turing reaction diffusion model for spatial pattern formation. Application to pigment patterning in fish, ligamentation in bivalves, and butterfly wing patterns will be presented.
