The Adobe Type Library catalog available at http://www.adobe.com/type/browser/main.html contains compact listings of font family names, with pointers to pages of samples of the variants within the families.

While the intent of this collection of font indexes is to record exact font names, rather than font family names, the listing below of 714 families is provided as a stopgap measure until better data can be located.

For convenience, here is a directory of the initial letters of the fonts, which are given in alphabetical order, ignoring lettercase, in the remainder of this document:
