The future of scientific discovery is autonomous
Abstract: AI will revolutionize the way we approach every human endeavor, including basic scientific discovery. In my talk, I will explore a vision of the future of scientific discovery, where AI agents query world models to generate hypotheses, design and execute experiments to test those hypotheses, and update their world models with the latest evidence. We will also see Recursion's first steps toward this vision with a demonstration of LOWE, a tool built to leverage the cognitive capabilities of LLMs to reason about and execute drug discovery tasks from natural language prompts: retrieval and analysis of data, design and execution of experiments, generation of compounds, prediction of their properties, etc.
